Jetpack’s Stupid Uncaught TypeError

Jess |

Ever since last fall, I haven’t been able to get the Google Photos connection to work properly on a client’s site. I’ve been stymied by an error, the good old and incredibly unhelpful Uncaught TypeError: ftp_fput(): Argument #1 ($ftp) must be of type FTPConnection, null given in /wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-ftpext.php:212 error.

Well, after much fucking around, exhaustive Googling and figuring that maybe Jetpack was doing it wrong, I found the answer: define('FS_METHOD', 'direct');

What’s frustrating is that this information can’t be found anywhere that’s actually helpful. Welp, I’m leaving it here for y’all to work with.
